How to spoil your vacation … or guarantee a good one
Choose carefully when you select a traveling companion, say the folks at travel search site Skycanner. “Moody and stroppy” companions are the most frequent cause of spoiled vacations. (Stroppy, by the way, is a British term for someone who is easily offended, ill-tempered and/or belligerent. I had to look it up.)
Rounding out the list, in this order, are terrible weather, illness, bad customer service, bug bites, travel delays, awful food, feeling fat on the beach and horrible hotels.
Some of these are unavoidable (illness, bad customer service, travel delays). But for the best possible trip, diet before you go, pack bug spray and an umbrella, and do your homework before booking a hotel and selecting a restaurant.

Great poll, Judy. I think we have to roll with the punches when we travel nowadays. So much of our adventures is out of our control - so, I try to keep my head up and enjoy the scenery!

Bad experiences make great stories, so you may as well go with the flow and find something fun in everything. (Unless, of course, it costs your health or a great deal of money.)
