What are the best free attractions in St. Louis?

St. Louis Zoo

No. 1: St. Louis Zoo

Trip Advisor can be a great way to find attractions and accommodations, but its listing of free things to do in St. Louis is, well, unoriginal. In fairness to the website, the rankings come from its users, not its staff. And they are all great places to visit.

Trip Advisor’s Top Five Free St. Louis Attractions

1. St. Louis Zoo
2. Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis
3. Anheuser-Busch Brewery Tour
4. Gateway Arch
5. Forest Park

However, the St. Louis area has much more to offer than these well-known sites. If you were compiling a list of top free attractions, what would you include?

How can you put the “Gateway Arch” as free? Yes, free to walk in building. NOT FREE to go up into the Arch…

You have to pay to park at the zoo. You have to pay to go into the Arch. By definition, these attractions are not free. As much as I love the Arch and the zoo, they shoudl not be on this list with out an astrisk.

The botanical gardens (when they are free) and the art museum are by far the best free things in STL

You have to pay to go up the Arch (and to see the movie “Monument to A Dream,” which I could watch over and over), but admission to the museum is free.
