Louisiana, Mo., Offers Tours of Town’s Scenic Cemetery
The Louisiana Historic Preservation Association is sponsoring tours this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5-6, of the town’s historic Riverview Cemetery, which features spectacular views of the Mississippi River.
The tours will include visits from some of Louisiana’s pioneers and early citizens as portrayed by members and friends of the association. Visitors will learn about the history of some of the earliest residents from 1813 and 1821.
The tour is a money-raising event for the association and the $5 admission will fund on-going projects.
Tours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. A shuttle service will transport guests from the main gate to the highest point of the cemetery. Tickets will be available at the main gate, and at Hoffman Gardens, which will be having its annual daylilly harvest.
