Nine St. Louis area lodgings and restaurants earn AAA Four Diamond Awards. Four Seasons gets five.
The Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis has won a rare AAA Five Diamond Award for 2009, and four restaurants and five other lodgings in the area have earned Four Diamond status.
Of the 58,000 hotels and lodgings rated by AAA, only .28 percent earn Five Diamond ratings.
This is the first Five Diamond award for the new Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis.
The St. Louis area’s Four Diamond restaurants are Giovanni’s on the Hill (20th year), The Grill at the Ritz-Carlton (18th year), Tony’s (ninth year) and An American Place (fourth year).
The lodgings are Hyatt Regency St. Louis at Union Station (19th year), the Ritz-Carlton (19th year), the Westin (seventh year), Renaissance Grand & Suites Hotel (sixth year) and Chase Park Plaza (sixth year).
Hotel and restaurant ratings, along with area points of interest from AAA TourBooks, are available at www.aaa.com.

Giovanni’s is much better than the Four Seasons Hotel. These people are crazy.
Steve, didn’t know you could spend the night at Giovanni’s. 5 diamond hotel and 4 diamond restaurant - can’t compare the two.
Nice to know that all the great places to dine/stay are in the inner city as opposed to the burbs. There is hope for St. Louis yet.
What happen to Franco’s anad Niche? Their meals were fantastic!!
Nirav - I must have read that wrong. I thougth they were saying the Restaurant at Four Seasons. Anyway, yes, I’d rather spend the night at Giovanni’s than at Four Seasons, duh.
I’m assuming this list is strictly for hotels and restaurants located within the city itself? Because for Paul Manno’s Cafe to not be on the list is ridiculous, but if this is limited to only the City, then I understand.
What about Caleco’s downtown? Four diamonds easy. I would also give four diamonds to Hrabosky’s and Vito’s. As for hotels, I don’t stay in St. Louis hotels too often and I am not sure there are any other five diamond hotels besides the 4 Seasons but I know the Millenium hotel with that cool revolving restaurant is at least four diamonds just for the shape of the building alone. I would also give the restaurant four diamonds now that I think of it.
Giovanni’s is not a hotel but a four diamond restaurant…
