Family Circle Names 5 Best Off-the-Beaten-Path National Parks
Concerned that nearly 300 million people visit America’s national parks each year, and many go to the same 10 places, Family Circle Magazine has picked five “best off-the-beaten path” national parks.
The park service manages 391 areas with more than 84 million acres of parkland, so the editors had plenty from which to chose. Here’s what they came up with:
Crater Lake National Park in Oregon’s Cascade Mountains.
Isle Royale in the northwest portion of Lake Superior in Michigan.
Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.
Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia.
Profiles of the parks, as well as budget travel guides for visiting them, appear in the magazine’s May issue.
