Might the Blues surprise?

The Blues hold the fourth overall pick in the draft, along with very high second-round picks and an impressive list of prospects.

This organization hasn’t expressed an interest in explosive Russian winger Nikita Filatov, but other teams are REALLY interested.

The Senators want to trade up and that team allegedly would move center Jason Spezza for the right package. The Blues could use a true No. 1 center to build around and trading up to get Steven Stamkos first overall doesn’t seem possible.

So could the Note swing a home-run deal today? HockeyBuzz.com suggests it could happen. Fans would find that way more exciting than the addition of sturdy young defenseman Luke Schenn, who has been compared to Adam Foote.

There is plenty going on, with the Panthers shopping big center Olli Jokinen, the Canucks shopping the Sedin twins and the Flames interested in moving winger Alex Tanguay.

The folks I talk to shoot down Evgeni Malkin trade rumors, but the fact that the big kid will get top-dollar offers from the Russian League adds a nice twist.

This will be a very hectic night in the NHL.

Any chance the Blues put together a package of picks and move up to 2nd or 3rd to get Bogosian or Doughy?
