Pining for Shan the Man
Until Brendan Shanahan signs with the Rangers or another East Coast team, fans here will hold out hope that he could finish his career wearing a Blue Note.
The Rangers wouldn’t mind bringing him back, but the team already has a surplus at forward. The Rangers have also tried to remain available for Mats Sundin, just in case the long-time Maple Leaf would want to play in the Big Apple.
Also, the potential availability of Wild winger Marian Gaborik (a free-agent-to-be) has the Rangers’ attention as well. Minnesota has offered Gaborik giant long-term money, but, so far anyway, the sniper has been unmoved.
That scenario left Shanahan in limbo. David Checketts realizes that Shanahan could both help the Blues and sell tickers, so the team’s team interest is sincere.

Could we get shanny, janny, and nellie to all come back to play? Man, were those some fun years in Blues hockey…
Maybe we could even find Oatsie…
I love hockey nick-names.
I sure was a fan of Nelson Emerson. I don’t know why… Just was. He played well while he was here.
