Canucks Push Lead To 2-0
After 6 1/2 minutes of unremarkable play, the Blues got another power-play opportunity.
Their inability to win faceoffs hurt them again. So did some sloppy plays with the puck. They finished the man advantage well . . . but they didn’t break through.
Then consecutive Blues turnovers in their own end allowed the Canucks to score their second goal. Alex Burrows somehow deflected a high, wide Shane O’Brien shot back into the net.
And that was that. The Blues do not look eager to get back on a jet to fly to Vancouver.
When Roberto Luongo took a blatant dive — and got rewarded with a penalty call — you knew the party was over.
Normally a team would punish a goaltender for pulling such a stunt. But there is no Geoff Courtnall on this team, so don’t expect anything to happen.
