McDonald Ties Game 2-2

Ah, the benefits of a vigorous forecheck.

With a bang-bang play off the end boards, Andy McDonald finally got a puck past Roberto Luongo. He went the doorstep and punched home a centering pass from David Perron.

That was a great set-up by Perron, who was chastised after the last game by former Blue Ryan Johnson.

The Blues soared after that tying goal. They dropped one Canucks after another with big hits. After a buzzer scrum, the Canucks bench gave B.J. Crombeen an earful after Crombeen got tossed onto his backside.

But will any of these chatty Canucks actually drop their gloves in third period? Probably not, since this is a road game.

The Note needs to hit everything that moves, force a few more turnovers and attack the net. If the Blues try skate up and down against the Canucks, they will lose.

Vancouver is poetry in motion when it has room to work. And by starting the third period on the power play — thanks to a roughing call on Crombeen — the Canucks will get a chance to regain their legs.

Glad the Canucks scored the go ahead goal. I find it very offensive that the fans in St. Louis would “boo” during the Canadian National Anthem tonight. Sport is sport but the formalities at the beginning of the game need to be treated with respect. After the anthem, anything goes. Booing the anthem is wrong.
