Spirited First Period Ends 0-0

This was a fast period with lots of hitting. The game was played at a breakneck speed.

But both defensive units did a good job of blocking shots, tying up shooters and clearing rebounds. The teams put just 12 shots on goal between.

Neither coach had much to complain about. Both teams are playing fast and smart.

The kid line of Patrik Berglund, David Perron and T.J. Oshie got some momentum back for the Blues with a terrific late shift. Alas, they didn’t come especially close to scoring.

Perron monopolized the puck, but couldn’t create much beyong a harmess Jeff Woywitka wrist shot. Oh, well.

Among the standout Blues was Brad Winchester, who used his size very well. McKee mixed it up, too. Barret Jackman played 8:27 of the period and was very strong on the puck.

Canucks should be wining this game by at least 3 goals. they are schooling the blues but failing to capitalize.
Quality chances are overwhelmingly Vancouvers. So much room at the point that it’s amazing. Mason outstanding. this would be HUGE game to steal
