Mason Robs Franzen, Protects Lead
With Red Wings power forward Tomas Holmstrom off for roughing, the Blues got an early power-play opportunity in the third period.
David Backes created a scoring chance by driving the net and T.J. Oshie nearly got the conversion. Brad Boyes had an opportunity from his favorite spot on the ice, but his one-timer from the lower left circle sailed wide.
Then Chis Mason made the save of the net, sliding to his left to somehow rob Johan Franzen’s short-handed bid. Pavel Datsyuk set him up for an apparently with a shifty move on the attack.
Wow.
