Red Wings Boost Lead To 3-1
Alex Steen’s double-minor penalty for high-sticking put the Blues penalty killers on the spot agian.
They did a stellar job and nearly thwarted the Red Wings for the full four minutes . . . but Ville Leino managed to convert a late rush to push Detroit’s lead to 3-1.
Ouch.
After getting outshot in 16-7 in the first period, the Blues didn’t need to give the explosive Wings this golden scoring opportunity.
Reversing the momentum of this game will difficult. The Red Wings don’t blow a lot of 3-1 leads.
Detroit nearly made it 4-1 shortly thereafter, but Chris Mason somehow gloved Daniel Cleary’s spinning shot from point-blank range.
