There are several hundred species of irises, which are found from North America to Asia. But you don’t have to travel far to see them here. Over 35 species are native to North America, including five to Missouri.
They’re in full bloom at the Missouri Botanical Garden, and shutterbugs were out in force this past weekend. And for good reason. The flowers are beautiful and don’t stick around long.
If you snap a nice photo you want to share, submit it to our garden gallery for others to see.
Of course, there’s lots of other reasons to visit the Botanical Garden this time of year. The recently installed Niki exhibit will be a highlight this summer. Chinese Culture Days occur on May 17 and 18 and include a 70-foot dancing dragon. For more information, visit the Botanical Garden’s web site.
