videoshoot.jpgA couple weeks ago, my son and a few of this buddies were asked to participate in the shoot for The Mirror Stage’s latest video, Electrical Storm. It was our first time behind the scenes at a music video session.

My son’s initial excitement diminished somewhat when he found out he was playing the part of a kid who gets roughed up on the playground. The first time was fun. By the tenth take, the cracks were showing.

Four hours later, he was dirty, tired and hungry but still enthusiastic about being a star in a rock band’s video. On the way home, he reflected on the experience before drifting off to sleep. “Dad, sometimes it’s no fun to be an actor.”

The Mirror Stage visits the Blueberry Hill tonight for a CD release party. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Cover charge is $8.

I’m the lead vocalist for The Mirror Stage. I hate that I missed that part of the shoot. If you haven’t seen the video yet, it is posted on the myspace link above. Your son did great. Maybe once he sees it, the fire will be re-lit…
