Put a little yee-haw in your weekend plans with a hayride through Forest Park.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry is offering hayrides on Friday and Saturday nights through Dec. 13. The wagons are currently booked until Dec. 5 so book soon if you want to go.

Reservations are $100 per wagon, and there is a limit of 20 people per wagon. The ride winds through Forest Park for about 45 minutes. The scenery is what you’d expect, but the kids spent most of the ride rolling in the straw on the bottom of the wagon.

Upon returning, groups gather around a bonfire to roast hot dogs or marshmallows. Each group gets one hour at the fire.

Wagons leave at 7, 7:05, 7:10, 7:15, 7:20, 8, 8:05, 8:10; 8:15 and 8:20 p.m. Follow the signs, and catch the wagons just north of the planetarium.

Call 289-5330 for reservations. There are no refunds, and the dates are not transferable. The rides go on rain or shine.
