Poll: What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Go! folks have compiled a list of their favorite Christmas movies, everything from “It’s a Wonderful Life” to “Bad Santa.” But the House-O-Fun noticed a glaring omission — “Christmas Vacation.”
What are the holidays without the bumbling Griswold clan? Clark’s Christmas tree hunt is a memorable moment in movie history. Throw in Randy Quaid and Julia Louis-Dreyfus and you’ve got a classic fruitcake film. But don’t let me influence your vote…

Welcome to the media circus. I'm Charles Williams, online entertainment editor and operator of this ride.
How about Stalag 17. Most would not consider it a Christmas movie but the plot starts the night of Dec 20/21 and the climax of the movie is Christmas day. POWs exschange gifts and decorate a tree with dog tags!
How can Holiday Inn not be on this? Someone explain. Foolish for a poll of this nature to not list it. Launched the songs White Christmas and Happy Holidays. I guess a dark film with Billy Bob Thornton means more to the season. Weak.
How can we leave out A Christmas Carol? The 1951 British version with Alastair Sim is a staple of the holidays for me.
I judge other versions by this one, i.e. the George C. Scott, Patrick Stewart and Kelsey Grammer made for television adaptations.
The Bishop’s Wife, with Cary Grant, David Niven, and Loretta Young, is a must see at this time of year.
It’s hard to choose just 10 isn’t it? I’m glad to see this list, however. There are several here I haven’t seen that I should add to my holiday watching! Thanks!!
The Movie Holiday Inn ,Irvin Berlin introduced the song White Christmas that lead to making of the movie we watch both each year
What happened to the original A Christmas Carol? The stations are not even showing it anymore.
Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause not on the list. Need to make it and check it twice. Billy Bob was a Bad Santa, but Scott Calvin was nice.
What about “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” ??!!
–Umm, hello? ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’? That poor forlorn tree that he had (more like a shrub, really), and the lights on Snoopy’s doghouse?
