St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase opens the gates

Our city’s premier outlet for locally produced cinema is now accepting submissions for this year’s festival. The 2008 St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase will run July 19-24 at the Tivoli Theatre. The deadline for submitting short films or (heaven help you) feature-length movies is May 31. St. Louis Spielbergs can download a submission form from the sponsoring organization, Cinema St. Louis, at www.cinemastlouis.org/showcase.html.
A word of advice for high schoolers: If you assume that you’re the only one submitting a fantasy about suicide or shooting up the school cafeteria, you’d be mistaken. Think different.
