The return of Crispin Glover
In 2006, idiosyncratic actor Crispin Glover visited Webster University to give a slide-show presentation, screen his aptly titled film “What Is It?” and meet his fans.
Glover is the epitome of dedication, and he took the visit seriously. The event started at 9 p.m., and he didn’t leave the building until the last hand was shaked and the last question was answered–at 4 a.m. (He also interrupted the slide-show performance to confiscate the still camera of a fan whom he wrongly assumed was videotaping him. It was chilling. Glover is very protective of his intellectual-property rights.)
Yesterday we learned that Glover will be returning to Webster’s Moore Auditorium for the weekend of August 22-24. Again he will screen “What Is it?” a psychosexual fever dream with a cast of actors who have Down Syndrome. He will also present his latest directorial effort, “It is Fine, Everything is Fine!” (about the inner life of a man with cerebral palsy), sign copies of his neo-Victorian books (such as the very instructive “Rat Catching”) and, yes, answer questions.
Check the Webster film series web site for the specific dates and dates when they become available. But here’s a friendly word of warning: If you go and you choose to ask him about “Back to the Future” or why he hates Steven Spielberg, be prepared to spend the night.
Crispin Glover, perfectly cast in the 2003 remake of “Willard”

okay–i read that “essay” and now must know–why does this dude apparently despise Spielberg so much?
It sounds way personal.
