We’re looking forward to the Dec. 5 release of “Cadillac Records,” the movie about Chicago’s pioneering Chess label of the 1950s, because it’s filled with shout-outs to St. Louis. Mos Def plays the great Chuck Berry, and our town’s Cedric the Entertainer plays Willie Dixon. (Someone named Beyonce Knowles is also in the movie, playing Etta James.)

So it’s fitting that on Dec. 4, a preview screening of the movie will benefit the St. Louis Walk of Fame campaign, which plops those gold stars along Delmar in the Loop to honor distinguished hometowners. The screening is at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli and tickets are $10. No word yet on whether Chuck Berry will attend any of the festivities surrounding the film.

(By the way, the title “Cadillac Records” is a reference to the automotive payouts that the artists often recieved in lieu of royalties.)
