Advance ticket sales for “Star Trek,” which opens Friday, have been astronomical. But the reliable Onion News Network is reporting that longtime fans of the venerable sci-fi franchise are blasting the new film as “fun” and “watchable,” with a serious lack of rubber monsters. The backlash has begun:
It sounds like it’s more like the original series and early movies. Although the original could be ham-handed with social commentary, it was fun, unlike the horribly pretentious Next Generation.
I am a fan of the original but I can’t wait to see this one. I love Star Trek!

Loved the original, loved the social commentary which was occasionally racy for it’s day without beating you over the head with it, loved the acting which did beat you over the head with scenery chewing but that was part of the fun.
I’ll wait for the dvd.
This is going to be the summer of AWESOME movies. I can’t wait to see it.
