I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the epicenter of student filmmaking in St. Louis is at Webster University. Webster grads such as Brian Jun (”Steel City”) go on to Hollywood careers, and many of the locals who were hired for the crew of the George Clooney movie “Up in the Air” learned their craft at Webster.

On Saturday, May 2, the latest Webster wunderkinds will showcase their wares at the 4th annual student film festival, hosted by the Webster Film and Video Society.

The festivities in Moore Auditorium begin at 6 p.m. with a reception that is free and open to the public. The theme is Bollywood, and attendees are encouraged to dress accordingly (i.e., colorfully). At 7, the films will screen.

all I know in advance are the titles:

Through Her Eyes
The Beach
Black Thorn
Manos Countdown
Hyper-Somnia
I’m Sorry
Third Time’s The Charm
Electrical Storm
Destroy The Cycle
Flicker of Light
The Project
Oranges
They Came From Above The Sea
Paid In Full
Hello Stranger
Flamingo
Con Brio
Bathsheba
Illinois Wants Me
No Goodbye For Grandpa
Spaces
Expect documentaries, mockumentaries, narratives, animation and unclassifiable weirdness. And expect some of these directors to be world-class professionals within ten years.
