27 Showcase flicks picked for St. Louis Filmfest

The 9th annual St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase wrapped on Thursday at the Tivoli, and 27 locally made movies earned an invite from the event’s more prestigious big brother, the St. Louis International Film Festival in November.

The following films were deemed sufficiently artful to compete for prizes and possible Oscar consideration alongside the prestige indies, imports and Hollywood sneak peaks that comprise the annual SLIFF:

3. Being Born is Marvelous directed by Denise Ward-Brown
4. The Blind Date of Coffin Joe directed by Raymond Castile
5. Con Brio directed by Benn Hill Triola
6. Donnie Baker and the Pork Pistols directed by Jay Kanzler
7. Ella Se Cayo De Cada Montana directed by Jacob Taylor
8. Electrical Storm directed by Ryan Doris
9. Gabriel and Romy directed by Sam Zvibleman
10. Game of the Year directed by Chris Grega
11. How I Got Lost directed by Joe Leonard
12. I Always Wanted To Be A Teacher
13. It’s Not Me, It’s You directed by Doc Crotzer
14. Just Shy of Being directed by Derek Elz
15. The Last Legend directed by Brant Hadfield
16. Ninjas Protest Pirate Festival directed by Jeremy Corray
