At Union Station, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. This Friday through Sunday, the historic trainyard will host a promotional caravan for the upcoming Disney flick “A Christmas Carol.” The event is free and open to the public.

Based on the Charles Dickens classic, the animated 3-D movie features the voice of Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge. It uses the same motion-capture technology that director Robert Zemeckis employed in “The Polar Express.”

Visitors can board the train to see props and 3-D footage from the film, which opens nationwide on Nov. 6, as well as artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum in London and motion-capture computers that can turn you into a cartoon character.

The caravan is traveling 16,000 miles, with stops in 40 cities, on its way to New York’s Grand Central Station.  In other cities, lines have been long, so get there early, The exhibit hours are Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more info, visit www.christmascaroltraintour.com.
