Haskins is a half-marathoner, too!
As part of her triathlon training in Florida, St. Louis native Sarah Haskins entered the ING Miami Half-Marathon and finished fourth. Her time of 1 hour, 19 minutes, 2 seconds was three minutes behind the winner, Yolanda Fernandez. Haskins referred to the half as ” a great combination of a speed and strength workout.”
Yeah. Sarah once told me, though, that if she had to pick just one of the three disciplines, she would choose running. In her days at Parkway South, she was a state cross country champ.
But enough about the past. The next big test for Haskins is an Olympic qualifier, April 19 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. If she is the top American and finishes in the top 10, she gets an all-expanse-paid trip to Beijing.
Winner of the ING men’s race was Brian Sell, an Olympic qualifier in the marathon, who crossed the line in Miami in 1:03:46.
