Haskins wins St. Anthony’s Triathlon
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Parkway South grad Sarah Haskins won the St. Anthony’s Triathlon on Saturday in St. Petersburg, Fla. Again, she led from start to finish and took home the winner’s check of $10,000. Haskins finished the 1.5 K swim, 40K bike and 10K run in 1 hour, 59 minutes, 24 seconds, nearly a minute ahead of her closest cometitor, Rebecca Wassner.
The weekend before, Haskins finished second in the Olympic Trials in Tuscaloosa and is in the driver’s seat to take the final spot on the three-woman Olympic team headed to Beijing. She finished second in each of the first two Olympic qualifiers, and the only way she won’t make the team is if Sarah Groff is the top American to finish the final qualifier in Des Moines in June.
