Pasta Party speaker Kristin Armstrong posted this on her blog. Since she got it from the Flora London Marathon folks, we thought we’d spread the wealth to all those sore runners out there:

Let us know how you’re feeling.

That video was funny, but how true. Yesterday was my first half marathon. It was a great experience and I’m so motivated to do another one. Although I felt great afterwards, I can’t say the same today. Muscle aches everywhere - plus I can’t walk on my left foot. I’m now just wondering how long it takes the body to recover. It’s hard to get back to your normal daily routine when you can hardly walk - especially when you have kids.

2. I was going to do a whole blog tomorrow on how long it takes to recover, but since you brought it up, I’ll give you a tip from Ben Rosario, two-time qualifier for the Olympic Marathon trials. He says take at least a week off after the half. Cross-train if you want, walk or trot a mile or two, but only if you feel like it. Marathoners have his permission to take two weeks off. Even if you followed the training program religiously, the race stretched you.

The only thing I can’t tell you is whether Rosario ever followed his own advice.

Come back tomorrow for a little more on recovery.

I know everyone is different, but I usually feel much better 4 days after the event. Today will probably be your worst pain day.

Congrats on the half!!!
