Track Club starts FREE marathon training runs
Yeah, the temperature is in the 80s and the dewpoint in the 60s. But if you’re going to get serious about running a marathon in the fall, you’ve got to start pretty darn soon. And the St. Louis Track Club has a great way to get you off on the right foot: FREE TRAINING RUNS.
The program begins June 28. The group meets weekly and moves up in acceptable increments.
A couple caveats:
- The group meets at 7 a.m.
- You must be running about 20 miles a week and able to complete an 8-mile run without stopping.
- The runs are free, but you must be a member of the track club. Membership costs just $30 per family per year.
The rewards are many: long runs in a social setting, coffee and refreshments at the end of the run. Committing to the program helps ensure that you’ll be ready for the big run.
The schedule is ideal for either the Chicago or Detroit marathons, October 12 and 19, respectively.

Anyone who enjoys running join the St. Louis Track Club. I haven’t raced in a Track Club event in a while but still gladly pay membership dues as the Club does a lot for the St. Louis Running scene. Networking to find running partners is a great benefit of getting in with these training runs.
