We didn’t want this comment from our most frequent contributor to go unnoticed. We thought it deserved a headline and that regular readers would appreciate the sentiment. We all have running to thank for moments of spontaneous beauty, and I encourage you to share them with us.

Thanks, RunFan:

In the category of too cold to run I wanted to post something and see what others might reply with. This post was closest.

Monday had the nasty return to 20 degree temps that make it hard to get out and run in the dark morning. But I got out and took my run through GreenBriar golf course. At 6am the course is peaceful and the hills are challenging so I always am glad to be there but was stopped cold in my tracks(pun intended) by the unusual site of a tunnel which enable golf carts to pass under a railroad line. Weekend rain and moisture had been seeping through the roof of the tunnel overnight and was freezing into icicles that randomly had formed through the 60 foot tunnel Some of the icicles were 2 feet long, others were shorter. With the subtle light of daybreak at the end of the tunnel lighting the scene it was awesome.

Wouldn’t of seen it if I had been home.

Running is entertaining and enjoyable in a lot of ways people don’t appreciate it until they experience it.

The cold weather running always reminds me of my favorite running quote by Candace Karu: “I have never once gone out for a run and returned saying: ‘I wish I hadn’t done that.’”
