NBC, “Biggest Loser” marathoner to give it another shot
Dane Patterson, the guy who tried to run a marathon but fell short after being booted from NBC’S “The Biggest Loser,” will try to make amends by running the Country Music Marathon next month in Nashville.
The show’s producers put Patterson on the spot when taping a follow-up segment. Patterson entered a marathon but was falling outside the time limit. He took a 3-ish mile ride to the finish, so the show could get its closing shot. The show’s producers then added insult to injury by posting his time as 3 hours, 53 minutes, when in fact it was 5 hours 53 minutes, then attributed the discrepancy to a typo.
Anyway, Patterson felt bad and is taking another shot. Good for him. Let’s see if NBC and the producers can give viewers some semblance of the reality of running a marathon.
Something good could come out of this yet.
The release also mentioned that Patterson was organizing a “Run with Dane” promotion for which runners could sign up on the race’s web site. A cursory inspection at 1 p.m. Monday revealed no such link. Perhaps the information will be posted later. We’ll let you know.
