St. Charles’ Lewis and Clark marathon adds hurricane insurance
I’ve been impressed with the way that Fleet Feet St. Louis, organizers of the Lewis and Clark marathon, have handled the adversity that Mother Nature hurled at them last year in the form of Hurricane Ike. They had to shorten the race but worked diligently to find other races that would allow Lewis and Clark runners late entry at reduced fees.
Registration is open for this year’s event on Sept. 13, and they’ve included Hurricane insurance as part of the registration. If a National Weather Service-named storm results in a shortening or cancellation of the race, all participants will receive a full refund. The fees are a bargain until May 31: $55 for the marathon, $40 for the half. Don’t waste time. Register here and now.
Fleet Feet also has reconfigured the start area at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. Second, packet pickup will be offered at Fleet Feet’s three stores or by mail.
Nice improvements.

Thank you for the news, Kathleen (and for this blog as well). You are such a welcomed asset to the greater St. Louis running community.
Truly, the worst part of the Ike run last year was standing immobile at the starting line for 20 minutes awaiting the delayed start. I know that conditions were beyond extenuating and do not blame St. Charles or anyone involved with Fleet Feet or L&C. Still, that delay was brutal. Wonder if it had to do with the reconfigured start area.
