GO! St. Louis marathon champ Zac Freudenburg heads for the mountains

A big weekend ahead for area runners, track athletes and triathletes.

The first to mention is Zac Freudenburg, winner of the GO! St. Louis marathon in a record time of 2:23:57 and winner of the University City Memorial Day 10k, pushing his son, Liam, in a stroller.

Freudenburg will head for the hills Sunday, competing for the 180 Energy Runners at the USA Mountain Running Championships. The race is held in conjunction wtih the Cranmore Hill Climb in New Hampshire, and the top three American finishers earn a spot on this years USA Mountain Running team competing at the world championships in Italy in September. Freudenburg was a member of the team last year and finished third at the World Championships in 2006.
