Emily Sisson award ceremony

Parkway Central’s Emily Sisson won the 5,000 meters at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, a meet for the nation’s elite high school track and field athletes, in Greensboro, N.C. Sisson, the Post-Dispatch cross country runner of the year state champion in the 3,200 meters, finished in 16 minutes, 34.36 seconds, the second-fastest time in meet history.
She finished almost a half-minute ahead of Lindsay Flanagan of Roselle, Ill., who was second in 17:01.21, and Chelsea Ley of Clarksboro, N.J, in 17:07.92. Before moving to St. Louis last year, Sisson was two-time state cross country champion in Nebraska. She will be a senior at Parkway Central in the fall. (Kathleen Nelson)
