If you read in reverse chronological order, the St. Louis Science Center’s Reach for the Stars is the first of the family-friendly troika you’ll encounter on the blog. If you’re a daily reader, it’s the last.

Before revealing the details, let me applaud race organizers for staging events at the start of summer that are geared for runners of all ages and abilities, for giving families a chance to start the school break on the right foot: with healthy alternatives for their free time.

OK, here are the details:

The Young Friends of the Saint Louis Science Center will host the Run for the Stars,  June 6, centered at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium in Forest Park. The race schedule:

  • 5K Wheelchair: 7:50 a.m.
  • 10K: 8 a.m.
  • 5K Run/Walk: 8 a.m.
  • 1/2 Mile Kids Run: 9:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $20  for adults and just $8 for the kids run through June 3. The fees increase to $25 and $10, respectively, June 4.

Register for any of the events online until June 5. or you can register for the run/walk the day of the event up to 30 minutes before the race.
