Triple A’s driving range is almost ready for action

Work continues on rebuilding Triple A Golf and Tennis Club in Forest Park — and real soon you can expect the driving range to be ready for action, says Jeff Raffelson, the general manager at Norman K. Probstein golf course. Both courses will be under the same management.

His best estimation on when the range will open: “Between July 10 and 15.” As for the cost, Raffelson guestimates, $5 for a small bucket, $8 for a medium and $10 for a large.

The course itself — depending on the amount of rain we get this summer — probably won’t open until late September for limited use before shutting down for winter, Raffelson said. But come next spring, it will be fully operational. Raffelson promises that the 2,800-yard course will retain its early 1900s charm with contemporary accents.

Stay tuned for photos of Triple A’s face-lift.

Pete,
It’s actually on Clayton Ave. I’ve linked a map to it if you click on Triple A.

Really looking forward to this place opening back up. You see, the management saw fit to sell my wife a couple gift certificates (for two rounds) as a birthday present for me. They didn’t tell her they were shutting down a month later, and they added an expiration date which has long since come and gone.

Jeff Raffelson needs to open up Norman K. Probstein for City Residents other than during working hours. People from the county have better access to the course after work than we do. Belong to a league and access after work is yours. Don’t try to golf there on the weekends. The original promise for a 27 hole course was that 9 holes would always be open to the public or at least that is what they would put out to the public. That never or very rarely happens on weekends. They would send you to Triple A. Limit tournaments on weekends, and leagues on weekdays, I am sure you can make the same money opening up to the public, especially residents of the city.

FINALLY!!! An option for city golfers to practice. Here’s hoping this is a safer option than the “war zone” at tower tee. Be sure to wear a helmet and face protection at that place…

Relieved,
What you need to watch out for at Tower Tee are the hacks that grab the beat-up, you-pick’em drivers on the wall and hang out under the awning. Those guys are dangerous.

Monday night at tower tee some meat head took a massive swing with his driver and the ball went directly parallel with an arc of about 7 feet almost hitting some patrons. He then proceeded to take his driver and break it over his knee.

The city is definitely in need of a driving range and learning center.
