Weekend couldn’t have been better for golf
Golfing season is really starting to kick into high gear now and I’d like to solicit some suggestions for those of you who know how the get the best bang for you buck.
This past weekend was great golfing weather, and I pity the person who couldn’t get out on the course. I had a good golfing buddy from out of town here on a visit and I scored a couple below $40 tee times at Stonewolf Golf Club at about 11 a.m. on Sunday. My buddy had never played the course, but was fair game.
The weather was perfect. The course was cart path-only, ’cause it was a little soggy in some areas. Greens were slow. Fairways for the most part were in good shape with some occasional casual water. Rough was reasonable, tee boxes in great condition. Bunkers were fluffy on some holes, muddy on some and mini ponds on a handful. The pace wasn’t bad. I think the round took about 4 1/2 hours. I think I may have gotten sunburn.
I choked on the front, carding a couple snowmen, but put together a more respectable back nine.
One refreshment tip: Like the movies get you when you with the popcorn, Stonewolf will get you with premium beer.

Assistant Business Editor Irvin Harrell is what you might call a "weekend warrior" when it comes to the game of golf. His mantra: good courses, good prices and good times. And he's cool with sharing good info on the local golf scene.
Pre-freezing a couple of Budweiser’s and putting them in huggers and then in your bag would be a good idea if it was allowed. But you never heard that from me…
