Some odds and ends for local golfers
Between travel, work and my kids, I’ve been a little on the busy side when it comes to getting any rounds in. I will tell you this much though. If you’re looking for any good deals right now, they’re around.
Emerald Greens in Spanish Lake has been offering two-for-ones after two on weekends lately. All you need to do is sign up on their website.
Play after 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at Normandie Golf Club and it’ll only cost about 25 bones. Not sure about the condition of the course these days, but it is a nice track. They offer a 15 buck after 6 p.m. rate but I’m really not sure how many holes you can get in these day after that time.
In case you missed the U.S. Women’s amateur last month at Old Warson Country Club, the fun is not over. Come Sept. 23-25, The Country Club of St. Albans will be hosting the 2009 USGA Men’s State Team Championship. I’m planning to get out to the course and get some pre-tourney footage and speak to a few of the principals the weekend before the tourney. I’ll keep you posted.

Assistant Business Editor Irvin Harrell is what you might call a "weekend warrior" when it comes to the game of golf. His mantra: good courses, good prices and good times. And he's cool with sharing good info on the local golf scene.
