Retirement day at Anheuser-Busch
Jeremiah McWilliams
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

It’s a big day for many people at Anheuser-Busch. Monday is one of a couple days in which the brewer’s eligible employees can retire under the company’s enhanced retirement program. (The others were Oct. 1, Nov. 1, and the upcoming Jan. 1). The company previously told Lager Heads that about 1,000 employees across the country had signed up for the program, which is part of a push to cut $1 billion in costs over several years. The sign-up rate was higher than expected, raising the possibility that fewer people would be pushed out involuntarily. (The previous coverage is here).

We’ll have to see what happens as Anheuser-Busch becomes leaner in the wake of the takeover by InBev of Belgium. One thing is sure: Changes are afoot in St. Louis and elsewhere. The question is how dramatic they will be. One that note, Lager Heads would love to chat with you if you are a current or former employee of A-B.
