Bigger federal beer tax to pay for health care? Not likely

Lager Heads has discussed the possibility of a beer tax being used as a funding mechanism for a remaking of the U.S. health care system. But it appears that is not going to happen.
A beer tax was not in the health care bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on July 14. Nor were taxes on wine and spirits, for that matter. The bill would still have to go through the Senate and ultimately a conference committee, as Beer Marketer’s Insights points out. But things are “lookin’ good so far” for the beer industry, the trade publication noted in its online edition.
“Extensive, high-priority but low-key (behind-the-scenes) efforts by big and small brewers” carried the day, Insights noted. Over 200 co-sponsors are now on board in Congress for a rollback of the existing beer tax.

Of course, this idiotic congress is going to TAX anything you enjoy!!! Cigs, beer, gambling, betting, and even your HEALTH CARE!! Next up, your miles you drive-wait, that is already in the package, using GPS locators!!! How much will you libs stomach??? Your kowtowwing to this idiot is absolutely ridiculous. Tax Bud out of existence??? Yes it will
The American people want full and complete access to the nations health care system at low premium, copay and deductible costs. Well guess what someone has to pay the price. BTW, for all you conservatives out there who critisize Gov’t involvement in health care, do us all a favor and refuse Medicare when you to turn 65. By God, stand by your principles.
Fine, tax alchohol. But I also want a tax on SODA, fast food, chips, candy, frozen foods, processed foods with high contents of high fructose corn syrup. Have you seen the number of fat people walking these aisles in the grocery store?
Whatever kind of health care the Congress sets up, they should have to be participants in it and lose the government coverage they have now

An this why nothing in Congress will ever be passed that benefits the American public. Until lobbyists are banned the corporation will always come first.
I had some useful comments but after reading this I realized that six months ago there were no taxes, we all had health care, there were no wars, the economy was humming, the stock market climbing, crime was low, kids were all graduating, and terrorism had been defeated permanently.
Surely this must be Bill Clinton’s fault.
