Schrader will drive this week for Ganassi
With Mr. Ashley Judd (Dario Franchitti) recovering from a broken ankle as the result of crash in the Nationwide Series at Talledega, St. Louian Ken Schrader will get behind the wheel of Chip Ganassi Racing’s No. 40 car this weekend at Richmond.
Schrader’s season was put in limbo with BAM racing because of sponsorship issues with the 49 car, but CNC Haas racing recruited him to drive the 70 last weekend in the Sprint Cup series race at Talledega.
Schrader qualified the 70, but ended up 42nd because of an engine failure 141 laps into the race.
David Stremme, who had driven the 40 last year for Ganassi, replaced Franchitti in the 40 for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race and finished 28th.
Despite the Franchitti injury, it was a big weekend for Ganassi at Talledaga, with Juan Pablo Montoya finishing second in the Sprint Cup race.
