Saint Louis Post-Dispatch

Through 11 races, each of the four Super teams in NASCAR have three drivers in the Top 12 of the Sprint Cup points standings — the coveted 12 spots that will be in the Chase for the Championship.

– Joe Gibbs Racing has three in top eight spots, with Kyle Busch atop the standings, Denny Hamlin in fourth and two-time champ Tony Stewart in eighth.

– Richard Childress Racing has three of the top nine, with Jeff Burton quietly in second place, Clint Bowyer in fourth and Kevin Harvick in ninth.

– Hendrick Motorsports has three of the top 10 spots, led by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in third, two-time defending champ Jimmie Johnson in sixth and four-time champ Jeff Gordon in 10th.

– Last but not least, Roush Fenway’s trio is Columbia, Mo.’s, Carl Edwards in seventh, Greg Biggle in 11th and the big surprise — David Ragan in 12th.

Ragan was 23rd last year as a rookie.

Among the big names outside the top 12 …

Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne, each just 2 points behind Ragan in the standings, Martin Truex Jr. in 15th, and former champs Matt Kenseth in 20th and in 22nd.

Also, Juan Pablo Montoya, Brian Vickers and Travis Kvapil in the 16 through 18 spots may be drivers to watch down the road. Vickers and Kvapil are having excellent seasons. Vickers failed to qualify in many races last seasom and Kvapil is driving without a main sponsor for Yates Racing.
