Yup, green drag racing.

Gateway International Raceway is hosting the Illinois Corn Growers Association, Illinois Farm Bureau’s E85/Ethanol Challenge on Wednesday.

Ill. Corn Growers Assciation, Ill. Farm Bureau Hosts E85/Ethanol Challenge at Gateway International Raceway

WHAT: The first national event of its kind, the E85/Ethanol Challenge showcases street legal, production line built, and custom-made performance cars running on America’s fuel. The Challenge will show how flexible E85 is in today’s cars and shine a spotlight on how ethanol, known primarily for its environmental and economic contributions, is also a high-octane product.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Gateway International Raceway’s NHRA-sanctioned drag strip, 1:30-4 p.m.

In attendance will be several Illinois’ lawmakers or a representative, including: U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello’s Office Illinois State Senator Frank Watson Illinois State Representative Jay Hoffman Illinois State Representative Tom Holbrook Illinois State Representative Dan Beiser Illinois State Representative Ron Stephens Mayor John Hamm (Madison, Ill.) Madison County Board Chairman, Alan Dunstan St. Clair County Board Chairman, Mark Kern Leadership Council SW Illinois, Executive Director, Patrick McKeehan SW Madison County Chamber Commerce, Executive Director, Rose Marie Brown Illinois Public Affairs Committee Members
