Veteran Mark Martin is the man in Phoenix
Kudos to 50-year-old Senior Olympian Mark Martin for beating the young whippersnappers in the NASCAR Sprint CUp’s Subway 500 Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway, as well as this soon-to-be Senior Olympian who didn’t even have him in the top 10.
Do’H!
Ol’ Left Turns remembered the bad luck Martin has had this year and figured he’d continue to be like Schleprock of Flintstone’s fame and luck wouldn’t be on his side. Twas wrong about that.
My pick, Carl Edwards, finished in the top 10, and only five of my top 10 picks actually finished in the top 10. I imagine the top 10s of Martin Truex Jr., (seventh), David Reutimann (eighth) and Sam Hornish Jr. (ninth) upended a fair number of fantasy teams this week, tho Reutimann’s strong preformances this year (he’s ninth in the points standings) should cease to be a surprise at some point.
