Sorenson Tops Charts In Second Session

Two-time race champion Reed Sorenson was the fastest in the second practice session Friday night for Saturday’s Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Gateway International Raceway.

Sorenson, who won the race in 2005 and 2007, had a quick lap of 33.172 at 135.657 miles per hour on his last lap of 36 for the session. He unofficially broke the track record set by Scott Wimmer in 2007, who qualified No. 1 at (135.355). Carl Edwards was second (33.303/135.123).

The Wallace trio of Steve Wallace was 18th (33.763/133.282), Kenny Wallace was 25th (33.920/132.665) and Mike Wallace (34.037/132.209) ended 32nd. Justin Allgaier (33.671/133.646) of Riverton, Ill. had the 14th best time.
