FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GIR Utilizes Facebook, Twitter to Reach Younger Audience
MADISON, Ill. - Gateway International Raceway is announcing it is moving into new arenas of mass communication by establishing a presence on two popular Web sites: Facebook and Twitter. GIR reaches a young demographic with events such as Midnight Madness Presented by Monster Energy Drink and is using methods familiar with the internet generation in an effort to communicate with them more effectively. The Gateway Facebook and Twitter pages will provide users with instant updates on facility events and cancellations, as well as providing a forum for users to interact with one another.
GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki said it is important to keep up with new communication trends, partly to reach out to young adults, but also in part to stay relevant in an ever-changing marketplace.
“A sizeable portion of our fanbase use their cell phones for everything, including sending and receiving e-mails, texting and instant-messaging, and web browsing,” he said. “By having a presence on Facebook and Twitter, we can reach them directly through their phones since both sites are easily accessible in that format. It’s a great way to communicate immediately with our audience.”
Facebook users can find the GIR page by logging into their accounts and typing “Gateway Raceway” into the Facebook search engine. Gateway’s Twitter account is located at Twitter.com/GatewayRaceway.
