Following Top Ten, Wallace and Team Border Patrol Head to Inaugural Event in Iowa
MONROE, N.C. (Thursday, July 30, 2009) - After securing their best finish of the season in last weekend’s race at Indianapolis, there’s no shortage of confidence for Kenny Wallace and Team U.S. Border Patrol heading into Saturday’s race at the Iowa Speedway.
An entirely new track to the Nationwide Series calendar, the Iowa Speedway features progressive banking in the turns, a characteristic that should lend to side-by-side racing. Drivers have also noted that there’s no track similar to the .875 circuit, making this weekend’s event truly one to watch.
There’s also another interesting fact about the track: Kenny Wallace’s own brother, NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace, played a large role in the unique design of the track. That has Kenny excited to take to the track for the Nationwide Series’ inaugural event at Iowa, as he considers the track to have a “family feel” to it.
“The fans in Iowa are very excited for the Nationwide Series to be there,” Wallace said. “We’re looking forward to getting there with our U.S. Border Patrol team.”
It’ll be a three-day show for Wallace and Team U.S. Border Patrol, as they’ll begin the race weekend with Thursday’s practice session. Two more practices are scheduled for Friday, while qualifying will precede Saturday’s race. ESPN will provide coverage for the inaugural U.S. Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and TMC Trucking at the Iowa Speedway, beginning at 4 p.m. (EDT).
