Hillary should be writing the most important speech of her life

Hillary Clinton should be preparing the most important speech in her political career. What she says and how she says it will be paramount for the election of Barack Obama. She can pull the Democrats together, or in a lackluster concession speech widen the party’s split. Not a single speech Sen. Clinton has made during this campaign will be as important.W. E. Mueller

Hillary lost her chance to give most important speech of her life years ago. It would have been to the press right after her husband got caught seducing the young buxom intern and then lying to Congress. The speech, if given, would have been brief:

“I want to thank all of you for comming. Let me keep my remarks brief and to the point. The events of the past several months have been personally painful and publicly embarrasing to myself, my daughter and our friends and supporters. The unfortunate actions and choices of my husband, Bill Clinton, have detracted much not only from the efforts of this administration, but have done much to destroy the integrity and honor of the Executive Branch of our government. As a woman, as a mother and as an officer of the court by virtue of my legal credentials, I am appalled and very disapointed. As you may imagine, it has taken great strength and conviction to say these things to you, to our administration and to the American people.

Based on these unfortunate circumstances, I find no other option but to seperate myself and my daughter not just from our daily life here in the White House, but with the advice and support of my friends and family, I and Chelsea are leaving Washington for an undetermined amount of time.

We are sure most will fully understand my decision at this crucial time and we can only let the American people know I am as shocked and outraged as they are.

Thank You. I will not be taking any questions.” END

That would be bad form. None of the other presidents who had affairs in office (probably 7 at least) wives left them either. Has anyone explored the fact that maybe it was OK with them and perhaps they were actively involved themselves? A lot of stuff goes on behind closed doors and, until it affects your job performance, that’s where it should stay.

I agree with WE Mueller. Hillary needs to begin thinking about bringing the party together. A well-constructed, heartfelt speech will be welcome and appropriate–when the time comes.

I also agree with Patricus. Hillary should have separated herself from Bill for a period of time, not just to express her outrage, but more importantly to restore her self-esteem.

And I think Slamfist has brought up an interesting issue. While I doubt that the Clintons had/have an open-marriage, because it is likely the press would have picked up on it, I’m fairly confident that Bill continues to point his thing toward multiple orifices.

I am sick of hearing about Bill Clinton’s affair. That has nothing to do with how she would run the country, her qualifications and how GREAT his Presidency really was! I agree with slamfist, leave it alone. It was between their marriage and no one’s business.

Obama doesn’t have the experience that Hillary does from being a First Lady and also being a Senator. If you run out and vote for Obama just because he is black and no other reason the people will suffer from electing a President that isn’t ready for the job.

He is a great guy and maybe in 4-8 years he would be more experienced to lead the country. I want the BEST candidate. I won’t vote for someone because they are black or just because they are a woman. Let the best PERSON win.

How does a person, who is TRULY the epitome of an ELITIST, step down when it makes clear sense? The answer is that a person like Hillary will always refuse to see the clear “writing on the wall!” She is not able to grasp that she has “put up a good fight and its now time to step down with her integrity intact and with honor.” Did I use the word “honor?” I forgot she has no understanding of what it means. Her and her husband’s legacy is truly haunting her in every way.

It’s been a good race, and we all were caught off guard to see Obama out strategize her and achieve the unexpected. His approach was based on a long term strategy, while Hillary’s was more suited towards a short term “one-two” knock out blow that backfired on her. America needs a president who is a long term thinker who can plan short term. I’m sure that most of us would agree that America has no need for a president who is a short term planner who is not able to the long term [a big flaw in Hillary’s campaign for the Democratic candidacy].

A quiet withdraw from the race now would prove to be prudent on her part, but her desire for power outweighs her interest for the welfare of her party and ultimately the nation as a whole. Keep in mind that she wants power at all cost. Do not be surprised to see her make a challenge against the results in the end. I for one expect her to push the resolution of the democratic primaries in to the court system at some point. No! She will not step down without seeking to sink the ship first…Let’s all recognize who she really is or are we choosing to be ignorant of her past? She’s still the same person from eight years ago; just her outer coating has changed.
