If Obama wins, I will live the rest of my life in near poverty

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

David Broder’s ode to Obama dated 05/20/08 titled “Obama a realist’s approch to foreign policy”, paints his obovious choice for president as being an exceptional intellect who is destened to change the world through new untried methods.

Not true. Another liberal “savior” was elected prersident in the 1970’s and used the same political strategy s8uggested by Obama.

His name was James Earl Carter. He helped dispose the Shah of Iran, our friend and let the crazies now in charge take over. Oil was higher tyhan it is now, and gas was often in such short supply you often had to wait in line at the stations to pay through the nose for sometimes a limited amount of gallions.

We were so well respected in the world, that Iran kept our embassy personal prisioner for 444 days, only releasing them after the next president elect Ronald Reagan threatened to go to iran and relesase them by force.

His tax increases brought interest of 15 percent for my 401k but everything you bought increased in price at least 20 percent, while income stayed the same.

The only individuals who seemed immune were the welfare professionals and the liberal media.

At age 73, I had enough savings to live modest but comfortable. Obama will see that the rest of my life will be spent in near poverty after he destroys the economy as did Carter.

Jim

I remember the 70’s, and you are correct. Obama will be another Jimmy Carter in more ways than one. Lord help us.

I see a re-hash of what Carter allegedly did. But I see no evidence for why you think Obama will destroy the economy, other than you accusing Obama of being just like Carter. If you’re conservative and don’t want to vote for a Democrat, that’s your choice. But setting up a straw man doesn’t make your point.

Jim, dont think of it as poverty, think of it as a socialist (democrat) eutopia.

I love how conservatives like to say that Obama or any liberal for that matter, if elected will destroy our economy or things will be just so much worse than they are now. Really? I mean do you really think they are gonna have to try that hard to one-up our current president and our current conditions? The question that Ron threw around when he got elected I see casually comes up but I don’t see it ever answered. Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago? OH thats right the Dems have had control of congress so it’s obviously their fault. I’d like to know where you conservatives got your new crystal ball, because I certainly hope you are not using the same one that you have been.

Jimmy, facts dont lie, the economy was rolling along fine until about Jan 07. Gas prices were about $1.50 a gallon lower then, and San Fran Nan had a secret plan to lower gas prices? Wouldnt now be a good time to implement that plan?

Yes, and up until Sept 11, 2001, when we had a Republican President and a Republican Congress, the Twin Towers were still standing.

If a Democratic Congress can be blamed for soaring gas prices, even though they’ve only had the majority a little over a year, and it’s not a majority that allows them to accomplish anything thanks to the obstructionist Republicans, then by the same logic, the Republicans are to blame for 9/11. They WERE in charge when it happened, after all.

Facts don’t lie, right?

let’s all be grateful that Bill Clinton, after endless meetings with his Special Advisor on Terrorism, Monica Lewinsky, was able to nip terrorism in the bud! After all the warning Clinton had (the 1st WTC bombing in 1993, the USS Cole, Embassy attacks in Africa, the foiled LAX millenium attack, etc, etc, etc) he still did nothing. The only enemy Clinton saw was Limbaugh

Oh, here are the Carter as Satan comments again… As much as all of you right wing fringe people hate Carter for the 70’s (did he also make you wear your hair that way??), many of us will feel the same way about George Bush in our senior years. His 8 years have been unimaginably bad for the US, specifically because of his failed policies. This needless war will cost 2-3 TRILLION dollars, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_cost_of_the_2003_Iraq_Conflict, and that is why Mr. Enright may have to do with less during the upcoming Obama presidency.

Mr. Enright, at least you have the security of Medicare at your age. McSame wants to take health insurance away from the rest of us.

(Link) The True McCain Health Plan: Wealth Transfer From Voters to Corporations
So here’s what’s likely to happen in the real world under the McCain plan, based on what we’ve learned so far:

1. If a family gets a $5,000 tax break but the typical family premium is $12,000, they’ll either pay $7,000 out of pocket or go without coverage.

2. People with pre-existing conditions won’t be able to get private coverage.

3. McCain will encourage the states to take on people with pre-existing conditions by creating “high-risk pools.”

4. But high-risk pools at the state level haven’t worked very well. So people with pre-existing conditions will either go without insurance, remain uninsured, or state taxes will skyrocket to cover their costs. That means even more money out-of-pocket for individuals, in the form of higher state taxes.

Mr. Jim Enright…
How did you ever survive the liberal “poverty years” of the Bill Clinton administration?

I’m surprised you were able to retire comfortably.
How’s your pension look now…Don’t drive much do you?
Grandchildren in college or working at Wal-Mart?
