It’s always the Palestinians’ fault
Every time that the Post publishes a report that Israeli’s kill Palestinians women and children, someone sends a letter to the editor complaining that the report is unfair because it is really the Palestinians fault that they were killed. This convoluted logic would have us believe that the victims are responsible for the brutal retribution perpetrated by the Isreali’s. The long and tortured history of the conflict over Palestine does not need to be revisited although, most Americans are either completely uninformed of the facts or are avid supporters of Isreal. Unfortunately, the facts do not support our complete support of the Isreali’s. Approximately 20 per cent of the population of the state of Isreal are Arabs who are at best second class citizens suffering from discrimination that would make the Jim Crow laws of the old south seem tame. In 1948 many Arabs either fled or were driven from what is now Isreal and were forced to live in refugee camps which were and to this day are appaling. Under international law, the refugees are entitled to return to their homes, however, Isreal chooses to ignore international law as it applies to the Arabs. In 1967 Isreal captured the west bank and Gaza. For over forty years the Palestinians have lived in abject poverty under a brutal Isreali occupation and Americans are amazed that the Palestinians object to this situation and resort to ‘terror tactics’. No one seems to realize that in the 1940’s Jews in Palistine, as the members of the Stern gang and other groups committed acts of terrorism killing innocent British women and children because the end justifys the means. The bottom line is that terrorism on both sides will end when there is justice for the Palistinians and not until then. There is no real possibility of a two state solution, the only solution is one state where Jews and Arabs are equal partners.

Mr. Bowman,
If international law requires that refugees be allowed to return to their homes, why are we not up to our eyeballs in Osage Indians?
