Why are love and tolerance missing in the radical right?
It is amazing to me that the political conservatives (the people who want to preserve the status quo for their own purposes) have been allowed to co-opt the agenda of the social conservatives (the people who espouse moral and family values). The right wing has convinced the social conservatives to vote against their own interests by using wedge issues–abortion, gay rights, gay marriage and “death tax”. Fewer than 1% ever pay. . an estate tax. The super-rich want to pass on their wealth to preserve the momentum of the new Guilded Age.
Listen to the talking heads of the radical right spew forth a constant stream of bile and venom. I have yet to hear any of these self-appointed spokespersons mention tolerance and love. Read the Prophet Micah to find out what God requires of us–Love kindness, do justice and walk humbly with our God.

True conservatives want freedom. Economic and personal freedom. That goes for all classes be it low income, midde class or the rich. Conservatives want limited government and the right to make personal choices about what to do with their money. They also want freedom of thought and expression, the right to think and say what you want without being tarnished or branded.
While I don’t disagree that the radical right has its own self interests in mind for what they want, I also think the far left is much worse. They want to use tactics that separate people along monetary or ethnic lines. If you don’t like Obama, you’re a racist. If you don’t like Hillary you’re a sexist. If you want ANY reform to imigration then you hate mexicans. If you have so much money, your evil and you should pay well above your fair share. As much as the far right creeps into a pollutes mainstream conservatives, the far left is equally adept if not moreso at corrupting the future of mainstream democrats.
Even this seemingly well intended letter serves to drive a wedge between segments of society. It poses that the rich are basically corrupt for wanting to hold on to money and not giving more over to the government. I’d argue that taxes should be very low on EVERYONE out of fairness and we should have the right to do with our money as we please. Its funny that the writer doesn’t point out that conservatives, including rich conservatives, donate far more of a percentage of their income to various causes and charities. And if I had the money, I’d prefer to choose what organization to give it to rather than having the government take it and do with it what it pleases.
The far right may have issues, but they still operate on personal control. The far left operates on thought control, bullying and division. To them the government is smarter than the person. I respectfully disagree. Feel free to start the name calling.
