Bias in the P-D reporting on Obama-McCain exchange

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I noticed that the P-D printed an article titled, “Obama rebukes McCain camp on terrorism criticism.” I also noticed that of the 18 paragraphs in that article, 11 either quoted Obama or were favorable to his point of view. Five were either factual or factual-yet-skewed-towards-the-left (”The Republican argument proved less effective in 2006 …”). Two…a whopping two…quoted Republicans.

Some quotes: “A defiant Obama”…”a sharp rebuke to Republicans”….”Obama said Republicans could be counted on to do “what they’ve done every election cycle, which is to use terrorism as club to make the American people afraid to win elections.”

Anyone care to bet which candidate the Post-Dispatch will be endorsing this election year? Save your money…the Democrat, regardless. Think I am spouting typical conservative, Fox-News propaganda? Fine, name one Republican who the P-D has endorsed for President since FDR took office, regardless of who the candidates were, or their positions on the issues. Surely you can name one…just one??

Would you really expect anything else from a left wing publication? They want Obama and nanny state giveaways so bad, they can taste it.

Tim Mace:

I wish you hadn’t brought up the 2 of 18 paragraphs that had quotes from Republicans. This is casus belli for the loopy cranks on the left to launch an all out war against the evil corporations control the media.

JD,
And you want McCain to take health insurance away from 52 million Americans so bad, you can taste it.

WAA…WAA…WAA…Tim gots a big old chubby whine-on! You could say the same about any candidate on any given day. It all equals out. At least the dems didn’t use chads. Perhaps there have been no good repub candidates for all those years you mentioned. You sure can’t brag about what’s been there for the past 7 odd years.

Just because you want free health care (which is not free) you can taste it.
If and when Obama gets Universal Health, by raising taxes on everyone, you will see how screwed up it will be. Medicare-Medicaid and social security ring a bell? Look at the cost and abuse that is associated with just those 3 programs. The more the government stays out of something, the better it operates.

If you believe raising taxes on just the wealthy, is just that, or windfall profits tax on the oil companies is just taxing the rich, you need to go back to school. They will get the same profit margin by increasing the price, and us little people will be paying more and paying the tax. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

You just keep up believing your liberal crap, and don’t come crying when you can’t afford a doctors visit or have to wait months for a surgery with Universal Health.

Mike H, everyone should pay for everyone’s insurance. It’s that way anyway, we might as well regulate it and make sure everyone is covered, instead of the non-insured always going to ERs for care, regardless of issue, so that it gets paid for by the taxpayers or the hospital’s insurance, which is the same as ours, which we then have to pay more for. Why not just have everyone pay a flat rate from their taxes and have it resolved? in the end, its cheaper for the majority. Stress is a major factor for those who don’t have insurance and any health professional will tell you that stress is a leading cause of illness. If you can reduce the stress, you reduce health issues.
The selfishness of the Far Right is astounding. They want to talk about morals and values but I never actually see any. I would bet that Jesus would approve of taking care of your neighbor. In fact, he said as much. Maybe the social conservatives should take up the cause, but fiscal conservatives would rather pay to kill people elsewhere than to take care of their own at home. Not only is it moral, it would be a huge cost saver for businesses dealing with the rising cost. It’s not only about the beneficiary, because American corporations would benefit from not having to pay huge amounts for insurance.

Tim, please realize that the AP generates more of the lead stories than to Post writers. Having the rebuttal of a claim be the main story is the best way to cover more news in less space. McCain has been attacking Obama more than vice versa, so Obama having the last action will have the most coverage. That, and McCain is so far off his rocker than what he says is so far from the truth that it does no good to publish.

The hate-filled, war-mongering, deficit-creating, lying Neo-cons have no concept of how to treat people other than by taking from the poor and giving to the rich and making the poor fight to make the rich richer. And then get busted lying about reasons for war that are now PROVEN true and they should be held accountable for it. The only people making money are CEOs. The average joe has higher bills, no income increase, and in many cases, no house. That’s not how a society prospers. The middle class in America is teetering on the brink, and if the Right doesn’t help the middle class, you will see a revolt of massive proportions. And they have no plans to do so. Zero.
How people can continue to support this sector is beyond comprehension.

How many times is LIAR12 going to repeat the same ignorant lies? Listen, sweetie, your plan for total government control over every aspect of health care has failed every time and every place it has been tried. It has never worked, does not work, and cannot be made to work.

Tim-

you’re understating your case. The Post just cuts and pastes from The Obamamessiah’s propaganda. They just take The Obamamessiah’s press releases and reprint them unedited and unaltered.

Methinks some pale males be jealous! There are several countries in the world where folks are most happy with universal health care. Repubs would just sabotage it here because they are selfish little buggars. That’s why all your wives look so unhappy and pinch-faced. Your names for Obama show you have litttle sense your selves. It just irks you that even being white and male you didn’t get as far as he did.
